purpose in life?

topic is a bit "chim" for a saturday morning...

but a very learned and well read friend has recently said that he read somewhere... that our purpose in life is simply to perpetuate genes!! i would translate that to be... we are all here just to make babies!

that explains why people feel contented right after giving birth (both mom and dad)... coz they have fulfilled their purpose of being!

i suppose this is like a super long term plan that the powers up above might have set. we are suppose to slowly evolve... into what? nobody knows yet. but i suppose the changes might be so subtle, it wouldn't shock people... until perhaps donkey years later when somebody take a look at the people existing in 2007 and compared it to people in 3007, then they'll say "gee... they look weird"...

what if a lady in 3007 gets sperm donated by some guy in 2007 from the sperm bank (this is assuming they have discovered a way to preserve them for that long) ... and artificially inseminate that... what happens then? then again, if they can preserve it that long, then the powers up above would not need that many humans to ensure perpetuation of genes?
