please pull the plug....

i am definitely pro-choice. i think euthanasia should be legalized...

i have had the opportunity(??) or rather the misfortune to have experience how a terminally ill patient feels like...

3 incidents... where i felt like it's not going to go anywhere...it's a matter of time. but the "death" is being postponed... intentionally... by some people whom i presume are acting out of kindness (??) or some may say selfishness (??)... i don't know...

sometimes, it feels good to have people whom are so nice to you... to even bother to try to prolong your "life"... but at times... actually most of the time, you'll rather if they just pull the plug.

otherwise, i'll just pull it myself...

p/s: don't worry i'm not suicidal! just metaphorically speaking!

i applaud your stance on euthanasia.. as you say its an individual choice..

i do not know the circumstances that you encounter that lead to your forming your opinion on euthanasia but let me ask you... is life so a chore that death is preferable?

me being and agnostic and a borderline atheist feel that this life is all we get and to let it all go is a bloody waste of life.. life is a journey not a destination as the saying goes... so what if its postphoned?

if you are refering to those incapacitated by stroke or those in a semi comatose state... unless they have specified in their living will on the circumstances when plug is to be pulled, nobody should take the place of god and decide to pull the plug just because 'death is being postphoned'

If you really feel strongly about this matter it is better to make people around you aware of your choice early on so that it is clear cut to everyone when the circumstances comes about...

sorry for ranting in your blog here..just something i need to get off my chest..

life is not a such a chore that death is preferable (at the moment)... for me anyway... as i mentioned, i was metaphorically speaking... so i would pull the plug on some other matters... but not my life.

i do agree with life being a journey...and i also believe that it's the quality of the journey, and not the duration... that is why if i ever do become vegetablized, do pull the plug...

hmm.. are you a religious person? coz i think suicide is a sin in certain religion.. let me ask you this question... do you want to pull the plug and go to hell or suffer pain for a while but go to heaven for all eternity? :) if you think religion is a load of crap, let me put it to you in another way, how would you think your suicide affect those close to you? yes you would have release but how about those who love you?

please dont take offence at my questions coz grapple with this issues too and i want to know what do you think about this?

i guess i'm not religious coz i do not belong to any particular religious order. however, i do believe in the existence of a god... or a community of them(!!)

yes, i think suicide is a sin in certain religion(s)... but i guess i do not believe that committing suicide under certain circumstances would cause one to go to heaven/ hell/ other places for afterlife...if the powers up above is compassionate (which i guess they are), they would be able to understand??

i suppose if, for instance, one is in a "vegetable" state, euthanasia would be a form of release for both the person and the loved ones.

and somebody mentioned playing god and pulling the plug? i feel that sometimes putting the plug in is a little bit of playing god as well.. no?
